Address: Kelvenne Padasjoki
Kelvenne is a ridge island in the Päijänne National Park, through which a hiking trail passes.
Kelvenne in the Padasjoki municipality is one of the largest and nicest ridge islands of Finland. It was formed during the last Ice Age, when the ice slowly withdrew to the northwest. The island was made from gravel that was gathered and arranged by glaciers. An 8 km long hiking trail runs through the island of Kelvenne and is indicated with blue marks. There are also several campfire sites along the route. The coast of Kelvenne can easily be reached in winter on skis or on tour skates.
There is a cruise boat connection to Kelvenne from Padasjoki Harbour in the summer time.
