Linnakallio hill, situated in the centre of Hämeenkoski, is one of the country’s medieval castle hills. During the great years of persecution, Linnakallio Hill functioned as a place for hiding people and items.
The Linnakallio hill is situated in a central place in the centre of Hämeenkoski. According to people's stories, a beacon system was used in Linnakallio during ancient wars. Fires were seen far away in the surrounding area. The beacon called men to arms to fight against the enemies and told women and children to flee. Linnakallio hill rises almost 40 meters from its surrounding environment and offers vast views especially to south. The slopes of the Linnakallio rock are steep except in northwest side. Based on its topograhpy and location the hill is well suited for a hill-fort and the eminently old name also refers to it. However, no certain structures or findings have been found from the hill.
