Address: Satamakatu, 15140 Lahti
It is nice to spend a summer day at Lahti Harbour. Its restaurants, boat restaurants and cafes with sunny terraces are a 'must' for a visitor. How about some local Teerenpeli beer with a melty Sulami bread? Or a gigantic cinnamon roll at Cafe Kariranta? Or frozen yoghurt onboard an ice cream boat?
The harbour is located only 10-15 minutes by foot from the city center. In addition to restaurants, the harbour area houses Pro Puu Centre, Ulpukka Handicraft Shop and Sibelius Hall, a modern piece of wood architecture. Wood architecture you can find also in Wood Architecture Park in the surroundings of Sibelius Hall and the harbour - visit for example Piano Pavilion for a cup of coffee and snacks.
From the harbour you can easily hop onboard a cruise boat. There are many kinds of lake cruises available in the summer; from lunch cruises to dinner cruises to Vääksy Canal. You can also travel for example to Heinola and Jyväskylä.
The harbour does not sleep in the winter time, either. For example Cafe Kariranta, Sibelius Hall and Pro Puu Centre are open year around. And when the lake freezes, there will be skating and skiing routes on the ice, as well as an ice terrace where you can enjoy warm drinks after the sports.
