Join us to experience the unending beauty of Finnish nature. Nature walks include —shady forests, ponds, small rivers and landscapes shaped by the Ice Age. On the way, we willl sample some of the local specialties depending on season: wild herbs, berries, mushrooms...
1. day Arrive to Kirjokiven kartano Mansion, Vuohijärvi
Transfer from Lahti to Kirjokartano Mansion, Vuohijärvi. Accommodation in one of the atmospheric outbuildings, which are located in the peaceful park. Welcome dinner with info.
2. day Experience rugged cliffs and sparkling waters of Repovesi National Park
Repovesi National Park walks: 10 km, rated medium
First day’s route takes us to best parts of Repovesi National Park which is a mosaic of rugged cliffs, forests and waters. The highlights of the walk include a hanging bridge, the hand-operated Fox’s Ferry, cosy Lapp-style huts, and fine views over the treetops from the park’s high spots. Picnic lunch on the way.
Later in the evening possible to enjoy to warmth of Finnish lakeside sauna. Independent dinner.
3. day UNESCO World Heritage site Verla and walking through a fairy tale-like bruce forest
Vuolenkoski-Heinola walk: 17 km, rated medium
After breakfast, transfer and visit at UNESCO World Heritage Site Verla Groundwood and Board Mill which is a unique part of Finnish history. The old board mill milieu, prehistoric rock paintings, little boutiques and workshops where local artisans display and sell their products, take visitors gently to the time before computers! Independent lunch at caféteria.
After lunch, transfer to Vuolenkoski. Depart from Vuolenkoski village towards town of Heinola. The terrain varies from paths to forest roads through spruce forest and lichen-covered rocks, groves and heathlands. Sandwiches, coffee / tea and fruits around open fire, arrival to Heinola about 6.00 pm. Accommodation in double rooms at Spa Hotel Kumpeli. Free time, possibility to enjoy the Spa and independent dinner.
4. day Walks at Paistjärvi area with hidden nature treasures
Paistjärvi area walks: 4.5 km + 5 km, rated medium: Pirunkirkko trail includes very hilly sections and varied terrain.
After breakfast, transfer to a hidden treasure for hikers in Heinola area. Today’s walks provide a great setting for hikers with wilderness landscape, pristine lakes and the Pirunkirkko (”Devil’s Church”) rock formation. After the Pirunkirkko trail, short transfer and walk with picnic lunch at lakes of Natura area.
Later in afternoon, transfer to Lahti. Accommodation in beautiful Mukkula Manor, close to city of Lahti. Farewell dinner.
5. day Pirunpesä nature reserve area and Lanu Sculpture Park - Culture in urban nature
Pirunpesä walk: About 4 km, rated easy
This morning’s excursion takes us to Pirunpesä nature reserve area. Pirunpesä is one of the most beautiful geological formation in Southern Finland and Salpausselkä ridges. Finishing the walk, we continue to local farm where a light lunch is served.
In the afternoon the tour continues to Lahti harbor area and Olavi Lanu sculpture park. During this guided walking tour, you will get to know internationally known sculptor Olavi Lanu’s sculptures. The sculptures are situated as a part of the lively townscape as well as part of the beautiful nature.
After the tour, it is time to head back to home.

Information about accommodation: Two nights in atmospheric outbuildings of Kirjokanta Mansion, one night in renowated hotel rooms at Spa Hotel Kumpeli and one night in Mukkula Mansion (either main or side building).
