Päijännetalo is located in an old dairy building by the Vääksy canal. The function of Päijännetalo is versatile including the recreational fishing museum of Finland as well as commercial services and tourist information. In the museum the visitor can learn about the history of fishing in Finland from the Stone Age to the modern times.
The museum's exhibitions include fishing equipment and history, such as Rapala's rise to world fame. Päijännetalo is open during the summer time.
The Kanavan Panimo -brewery also operates in Päijännetalo. The tours at the brewery can be booked on request.
