The Vääksy Canal connects lake Vesijärvi and Lake Päijänne. The canal was built between 1868-1871. The Vääksy Canal is one of the busiest recreational inland waterways in Europe and the most famous attraction of Asikkala.
The idyllic surroungings of the canal with cafés, restaurants and boutiques offers memorable experiences for the whole family.
The canal is about 1.3 kilometres in length with a lock gate in the middle. The difference in water level between the two ends of the canal is about 3 metres.
